01 Background on our membership of the JDCC
The Japan Data Center Council (JDCC) is an industry association dedicated to defining the “ideal form” of data centers that support Japan’s status as an "IT-advanced nation". It operates across several industries, corporate, industrial, academic, and governmental boundaries.
In recent years, the rapid proliferation of generative AI and cloud services has exponentially increased power demand at data centers. As a result, stable power supply and optimal power procurement have become critical issues that determine business success or failure in the data center industry. Moreover, data centers require 24/7 non-stop operations, where power quality and stability directly impact service quality. Furthermore, since power costs constitute the majority of operational expenses, the selection of power source types—including the utilization of renewable energy and power planning significantly influence business profitability.
02 What GBP offers?
Building on our long-term expertise in developing and supplying electrical materials such as high-voltage power receiving and transforming equipment, high-voltage cables, and smart meters, GBP will contribute to the data center industry in the following areas;
1. Development of Power Systems for Data Centers
GBP K.K goes beyond selling existing products. We develop dedicated power systems that meet data center-specific needs. In environments requiring high loads, continuous operation, and temperature stability, we deliver high-efficiency, high-reliability, and flexible power configurations. These solutions enable long-term stable operation and reduce operational costs.
2. Optimal Power Procurement Support as a Retail Power Provider
As a retail power provider, GBP K.K. proposes and executes optimal power procurement plans for data centers. We source power from diverse suppliers, including renewable energy providers. From power source selection to power planning formulation, we provide comprehensive support that balances power supply-demand and business profitability.
3. Contribution to Industry Standardization and Technological Innovation
Through the JDCC’s technical committees and related activities, we will actively contribute to the standardization of power infrastructure for data centers, improvements in safety, and the development of technologies which contributes to archive carbon neutrality.
03 Future Outlook
With our membership in JDCC, GBP will accelerate efforts to enhance energy optimization and resilience across the data center industry. By integrating our expertise in the renewable energy with advanced power-engineering capabilities, we will contribute to the realization of a sustainable digital society.
