01 Why Compatibility Matters
Upgrading or replacing faulty solar panels doesn’t always mean you have to replace your entire system. Whether you're dealing with discontinued models, storm-damaged modules, or aging arrays, matching replacement solar panels with your existing inverter and mounting structure can help save time, reduce costs, and extend your system’s lifespan.
At GBP K.K., we specialize in providing custom replacement panels that align both electrically and mechanically with over 800 panel models, including those no longer in production.
Many solar owners run into challenges when a few panels fail while the rest of the system is still performing well. Simply choosing any new panel is not an option—you risk mismatched voltage, poor energy yields, or even system failure.
Key compatibility factors include:
• Electrical parameters (voltage, current, power output)
• Physical size and mounting hole locations
• Connector type and inverter input limits
• Aesthetics (important for rooftop arrays)

02 How to Match Replacement Panels to Your Inverter
1. Check Your Inverter Specs
- Review the maximum input voltage (Vmax), current (Imax), and MPPT range.
- Ensure the replacement panel’s Vmp and Imp are compatible.
- For systems connected in series, voltage mismatches can degrade performance across the string.
2. Choose Panels with Similar Power Ratings
- Aim for replacements with similar or slightly higher wattage.
- Panels with much higher output may not yield better performance if your inverter can’t handle the additional power.
3. Match String Configuration
- If your system uses multiple strings, balance is crucial.
- Uneven strings can trigger MPPT inefficiencies or even system shutdowns.
03 How to Match with Your Mounting System
1. Measure Panel Dimensions
- Use the length, width, and thickness of your existing panels to find a physical match.
- Mounting rails are often tailored to specific panel sizes—mismatched dimensions can cause stress points or gaps.
2. Check Frame and Bolt Hole Layout
- Look at hole spacing and frame depth. Some mounting clamps only work with specific edge designs.
- GBP offers panels with customizable frame profiles to ensure secure fitment with existing mounts.
3. Weather Resistance & Coating
- Ensure new panels meet or exceed the weatherproofing standard of your old ones, especially if your mounting system includes wind clamps or tilt kits.
